    Donald Trump, Mueller, News, Russia

FBI Director Christopher Wray may be on borrowed time after he openly rejected Donald Trump‘s desperately pathetic claim that he was the victim of a “witch hunt” by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Wray replaced former director James Comey after Trump fired Comey for not derailing Mueller’s investigation into possible collusion between Russia and Trump’s presidential campaign.  Trump even assured Russian diplomats that firing that “nut job” Comey would ease some of the pressure from the Mueller’s investigation.

Lately, Trump’s exhausted the term “witch hunt” in describing the Russian investigation in a dizzying array of comically immature tweets. Here are a few examples:

On Monday, Wray testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee stating that Mueller’s investigation was anything but the “witch hunt” Trump so fondly calls it. Wray sat beside Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz as both men took questions from senators concerning the Inspector General’s report on the FBI’s performance in conducting the Trump and Clinton investigations.

Trump’s not only claimed for months that Mueller’s investigation is a “witch hunt,” but he’s also recently tried to use the Inspector General’s report criticising some of the behaviors by Comey and other agents as ammunition to sabotage the investigation. The Inspector General’s report found a relatively small amount of anti-Trump bias held by a few FBI agents. Trump claimed this detail “completely discredits” Mueller’s probe.

Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) asked the director about Trump’s claims.

“The Special Counsel investigation has already resulted in an indictment of 20 individuals and three Russian companies. Do you have any reason to believe that this investigation has been discredited?”

“Senator, as I said to you last month and as I said before, I don’t believe Special Counsel Mueller is on a witch hunt,” Wray replied.

However, this isn’t the first time the current FBI Director has broken Trump’s imaginary “loyalty” friendship bracelet.

    In February, Politicususa reported:

“FBI Director Christopher Wray sent a statement to the agency’s employees saying he stands with them after a document written by congressional Republicans alleging bias against President Donald Trump at the FBI and the Justice Department in the Russia investigation was made public.”

Many news outlets like CNN speculate that it may be a matter of time before Trump reenacts former President Richard Nixon’s infamous “Saturday Night Massacre” and begins firing any official who refuses to stop the Mueller investigation. However, most experts, including some high-ranking Republicans, agree that the political fallout from such action would almost guarantee that Trump faces impeachment.

Will Trump roll the dice and fire his administration’s second FBI director? Wray may want to keep a close eye on Twitter or Fox News in the next couple of days to find out.
