Today President Donald Trump went full white nationalist, defending his administration’s policy of separating children from their parents at the border. During a council meeting, Trump doubled down and said that the United States would not be a “camp” for migrants, nor will it be a “refugee holding facility.” Trump has dehumanized these migrant people, that he sees them as “others,” who won’t participate in our democracy – even though they do.
Trump has also blamed the Democrats for the separation of migrant children from their parents at the southern border, even though the separations are the result of a directive issued by his administration just a year ago.
“If the Democrats would sit down instead of obstructing, we could have something done very quickly,” Trump added later. “Good for the children, good for the country, good for the world.”
President Trump, amid growing outrage over his administration’s immigration policies, claims that “it’s very strongly the Democrats fault.” “The United States will not be a migrant camp and it will not be a refugee holding facility,” he says. https://t.co/1q1vjxSZpW pic.twitter.com/S8Sb5907VW

Why Does Trump Keep Lying about the Democrats?
This is not the fault of Democrats – this is a deliberate policy shift by the current administration. The Trump administration has full power to reverse it. So when they try to pretend that Democrats are gridlocking them, then realize that that’s simply a lie.
This is what’s happening to legislative immigration efforts: the immigration bill got all 39 votes in the Senate, with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell explicitly saying that the Senate won’t take up any immigration legislation again unless the House passes it. The Republican effort is a partisan one, since Democrats aren’t at the negotiation table, nor are they being consulted. The bottom line is that the administration implemented the current separation policy that we see now.
